چکیده

This was a preliminary evaluation of 90Y ferric hydroxide colloid for the Radiochemical Centre before using it in patients. Autoradiographs of rabbit knees, both inflamed and non-inflamed, showed that the material was evenly distributed in the synovium, and that there was no evidence of aggregation in vivo. Table I shows the retention of ferric hydroxide colloid in the knees of nine rabbits killed at different intervals, compared to a standard aliquot dispensed at the same time. Three separate batches of ferric hydroxide colloid were used. After the animals had been killed, the knees, liver, and popliteal and inguinal lymph nodes were removed and the radioactivity counted. One batch of resin colloid and one batch of citrate colloid were similarly studied. We

90Y ferric hydroxide colloid.

At the Radiochemical Centre we have recently developed a new 90Y colloid which has greater stability than the currently available 90Y silicate colloid and appears from the results of animal tests to be suitable for the treatment of rheumatoid knee joint effusions. In this report the need for a new 90Y colloid is assessed and the preparation and properties of the new colloid are described. Curre...

Citrate influences microbial Fe hydroxide reduction via a dissolution-disaggre- gation mechanism

Microbial reduction of ferric iron is partly dependent on Fe hydroxide particle size: nanosized Fe hydroxides greatly exceed the bioavailability of their counterparts larger than 1 μm. Citrate as a low molecular weight organic acid can likewise stabilize colloidal suspensions against aggregation by electrostatic repulsion but also increase Fe bioavailability by enhancing Fe hydroxide solubility...

Use of yttrium 90 in persistent synovitis of the knee. II. Direct comparison of yttrium colloid resin and yttrium citrate.

The choice of radiocolloid for intra-articular therapy depends largely on factors of efficacy and safety. The fl-emission from yttrium 90 (90 Y) has a satisfactory range for use in the knee and a short half-life as well as freedom from gamma-radiation and from contamination. Since the demonstration by Stevenson, Bedford, Hill, and Hill (1971) and Stevenson and 12 others (1973) that chromosomal ...

Comparison of extraarticular leakage values of radiopharmaceuticals used for radionuclide synovectomy.

OBJECTIVES Radionuclide synovectomy is a reliable therapy in patients with chronic synovitis. However, radiation doses delivered to non-target organ systems due to leakage of radioactive material from the articular cavity are an important disadvantage of this procedure. In this study we compared extraarticular leakage values of the 3 commonly used radiopharmaceuticals; 90Y-citrate, 90Y-silicate...

Electrode reactions of iron oxide-hydroxide colloids.

Small-sized FeO(OH) colloids stabilised by sugars, commercially available for the clinical treatment of iron deficiency, show two waves during cathodic polarographic sweeps, or two current maxima with stationary electrodes, in neutral to slightly alkaline aqueous medium. Similar signals are observed with Fe(III) in alkaline media, pH > 12, containing citrate in excess. Voltammetric and polarogr...
